I totally love it when I know that a book is going to be amazing before I even open it up and then have it exceed all my expectations by the end. That is what happened when I read Jet by Jay Crownover. Ayden was an awesome character. She showed so much confidence, was calm and cool even during situations that put her at odds with what she was truly feeling. I loved her carefree, but also careful vibe. I was digging her style and how she was fun and respected herself. I liked that being around Jet unsettled her and made her feel things. I was always waiting for her to give herself a little free rein from trying to be a good girl and just embrace her old and new side and smash them together like she should’ve done. I have to admit that Ayden did frustrate me with her reasons for staying away from Jet and for not being able to see a forever with him. I understood her fear and hesitation from her messed up past, but it drove me crazy! However, Ayden was brave, smart, and completely sexy in her shoes and I loved her even if I wanted to shake her.Leather jacket, tight pants, piercings, tattoos, heavy metal and rock and roll equals Jet Keller. What’s not to love, right? Jet was freaking sex on legs and I couldn’t get enough of him. I had no doubts that I would love this man, but I never knew that I could love him more than I ever could when reading all about him. Jet was a private, quiet and brooding man. He described himself as fire waiting to burst and he was just that. Fire, heat, explosive, but mesmerizing and beautiful. He had such a big heart and so much love for his friends, for his mom, and for Ayden. And Jet was super talented. He could play guitar, sing, write songs, and has a great ear for good music and people who could play good music. And the thing about Jet was that he was able to hypnotize people on and off stage and now even on page. I love Jay Crownover’s writing because she brings the characters she creates to life and she easily makes you fall in love with the love that surrounds them. Crownover fleshes out Jet and Ayden’s characters where I was able to really get to know them, to feel them and to sympathize with their situations. I liked that their relationship started off at a tentative, fragile and undefinable state and moved into something deep, where Jet and Ayden were finally able to open up and give each other a real chance. Even better was the amazing chemistry, the sexual tension and the too hot for words steamy scenes that continue to leave me a breathless every time. And Crownover truly brings out all the feels! Sweet heaven and hell, Tessa Bailey just never ceases to amaze and completely blow me away with every book she writes. Just when I think the last couldn’t get any better than this, she goes and creates Officer Off Limits that pushes the rest away and stands at the top. What I love most about Tessa’s writing is her ability to create characters that I always end up loving and caring for as if I knew them. I get so caught up in their story I lose myself in it each and every time and I love that. I get attached and I form a deep connection that I would never trade a single thing for. That’s how amazing Tessa is and I have already come to the realization that I will never get tired of reading her books.It is a total understatement to say that I adore Story! Though I scoff at her dislike her for seafood, I freaking want to hug her because she was from San Diego, she was a sweet kindergarten teacher who loved chocolate. The woman nearly drowned when she was younger and she thought it was an adventure! Clearly, Story was a girl after my own heart. Story had the best bold and wittiest comebacks ever. Story was all sassy and full of ‘give ‘em hell’ kind of attitude, I really could not love her enough. I was really cheering her on through the whole book because she totally found herself and her flare. She was brave for risking her life and her heart.
Daniel Daniel Daniel. He’s the best hero from the force Tessa has created thus far! Why? Because at first glance, at first impression, Daniel seemed like a playboy, a man who can never keep it in his pants and doesn’t do one woman relationships. Dive deeper and you’ll see a man who is slightly damaged, haunted from a messed up upbringing, but became someone who has made something of himself. He totally respected and looked up to Story’s dad and totally put a number on Story’s feelings. The man oozed smooth, charm and charisma; a true ladies man for sure. I didn’t know whether to roll my eyes at his pick up lines or swoon on the spot. I just knew he could walk the walk, talk the talk and deliver. I totally fell so fast, like crazy in love fast with Officer Off Limits. There was so much entertainment in this book, it was a seriously a fun ride! Not only was Story and Daniel hilarious, but the secondary characters, Brent and Matt, were laugh out loud funny. It should be a crime to be allowed to consume any beverage while in the presence of Brent. There was nothing more truer than the statement of laughing my head off while reading this book; that’s how great it was. When Daniel and Story were together, they just burned bright. Their steamy scenes were scorching and their encounters with one another were push and pull and always had me longing for more. And ultimately, this book had the best lines, ever:“I was done the second I saw you. Done."

"Dispatch, please alert medical personal that officer is whipped." 

"You like blueberry pancakes? I love blueberry pancakes!" 

"He’d been cast into permanent boner-oblivion for the rest of the night.”

“‘You know, I could have sworn you were going to pick the trail mix.’
‘Oh, yeah? Why is that?’
‘Because you’re both full of shit.’”

Totally touched my heart! Full review to come!

Brazen Ever After novellas are complete teases, I swear! I can’t seem to get enough and this goes for No Strings Attached. I devoured this gem in less than two hours, trying my hardest to make it last forever to no avail. It was just too good to put down. 

Hayden was freaking awesome! Right in the beginning she was just so funny and down to earth. She was just a normal young woman who wasn’t too wild or even boring, but hard working and finally going after her dreams. She was finally doing something she has always wanted to do and I totally enjoyed that she stepped out a little on her last night at home. Hayden gets her one night and while she does, things go past her boundaries and reservations. I liked that Hayden never became someone else but herself. She didn’t let herself be held back from what she really wanted. 

Jace was the sweetest, sexiest, most alluring best friend ever! I totally loved that he was so protective of Hayden. It wasn’t hard to love Jace at all. First, he owned a club, had spiky hair, had tattoos, knew how to serve drinks, and was a good friend and even better lover. You can’t ask for a better man. I’d let him lick my thigh any day. I was so giddy that he finally took action with Hayden. I was just melting all over the place every time he talked about how much he loved Hayden and how much he wanted to be with her. I think I need to trade places with Hayden because Jace was just dreamy. I sure would not hesitate to jump Jace’s bones, especially if I was locked in a storage room with him. (wink wink)

This novella was really short and Day hits all the right points. What I love the best about No Strings Attached besides the hot steamy scenes that Day built up, was the well developed characters of Hayden and Jace and the relationship they had. I really got to appreciate the friendship that was already established and the love that was deeply rooted between the two. I believed it and I felt it and couldn’t help but root for these two. It was sweet and so heartwarming, I didn’t stop myself from hugging this book real close when I finished.

Skin in the Game by Jackie Barbosa was probably one of the sweetest and cutest steamy Brazen books I’ve ever read to date! This book didn’t just make me swoon for the romance, but it put a huge smile on my face. It was the perfect light and sexy read I needed.I adored Cade! I thought he would be one of those arrogant, too good for you, and sleeps with everything in a skirt type of guy, but that wasn’t the case at all! Yes, he was cocky at times and enjoyed being in the limelight his fame brought, but he was a great guy. He was charming, cool and a gentleman through and through. I loved that he cared a lot about his former mentor and football coach and believed in Angie’s coaching abilities. He respected her and all the decisions she made. Even better, Cade was an honorable man and a loyal friend. He was not without faults and could be a complete idiot when it came to Angie and his heart, but he was entirely lovable from start to finish. While I loved Cade, I thought Angie was the best! She was the girl next door type and a totally down to earth person. She stood out the most in this book because of the passion she had for her job and the utmost care she had for her students. She was the teacher I wish I had in high school. Not only was she the sweetest character ever, but she had firm convictions, morals and the spirit and fight to last a lifetime. She worked hard for everything she has ever wanted and dreamed of and I was thoroughly impressed that she never wavered even when faced with the choice of losing Cade. She loved enough to accept or let go even when it hurt the most.Cade and Angie were wonderful characters individually, but together they were burning up with chemistry and sexual tension. I freaking enjoyed ever kiss, touch, and sexual encounter they had. They just had enough spice to keep me enticed.I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy a book that centered around football since I’m not a sports fanatic, but I thought this enhanced the story for me. There was some football lingo thrown here and there, but to my surprise, I didn’t have trouble following along. It was something different compared to all the romantic contemporaries I have read without this aspect. I think I may even have learned more about football coming out of this book!All in all, Barbosa did an amazing job with Skin in the Game. Her writing was simple, yet fun and I really had a fantastic time reading this book. I also loved the underlying message of love, believing in yourself and making compromises. I knew it! I absolutely knew that Tessa Bailey could blow me away again with her new book, His Risk to Take! It’s a short and quick read, but has solidified the fact that Bailey has become a favorite of mine! His Risk to Take is yummy, dangerous and straight up over 100 degrees celsius HOT.I have one question for Troy and that’s, can I be his risk to take? Because dear god, there is nothing hotter than a dirty talkin‘ sex machine Detective like Troy Bennett! 
You would have never thought twice because Troy came off as quiet and reserved, but get him in the bedroom and clothes start flying. Troy’s a man who is so manly he’ll melt your panties off with one look. Troy was the type of man to make you want to be in his jeans as soon as humanly possible. Not only that, Troy’s dominating, protective and oh so loving, Ruby wasn’t the only one falling. I want one, please and thank you. I freaking loved Ruby! She was fire and ice and everything nice. The fact that she can play pool better than any guy I know and can talk right back to a man without hesitation is what I call a kick ass, fierce as hell chick. I wanted to embody her, not just to get in Troy’s pants mind you, but to have the confidence and recklessness she carried with her. Ruby was a survivor and even though she could get herself into some sketchy stuff, she has her own back and can handle herself. I not only loved her snark, but her whole straightforward attitude as well. I am at Tessa Bailey’s mercy, because wow, she has some serious totally impressive talent for writing passionate, intense, and lusty love romance like no other. This book is just sexy romance at its finest and one I call pure excellence. What’s even better is that she mixes in this explosive seduction with hustling, gambling and suspenseful danger that had me bouncing on my toes with excitement. I want to live in Bailey’s mind because daaaamn, I can’t get enough of her writing, ever.

DNF - this book is just not for me. I read about 20% and then skimmed the rest and I can't. There was a scene in this book that was an absolute deal breaker for me. No rating and no review will follow.

Drowning in You by Rebecca Berto was not a book about a simple forbidden romance. It was not a light read and one that left me with a heavy heart, but put a smile on my face too. It was sad, but hopeful. I wasn’t expecting what I read in this book, but Berto managed to ensnare me. If I could describe this book in three words, it’d be heartbreaking, uplifting and very emotional. 

I’m not sure if I like Charlee because she just wasn’t very likable to me, if that makes any sense at all. However, the pain and loss she felt throughout the book for her family crippled me in a good and bad way. The hurt she was feeling was radiating out of her and was definitely hitting me all over the place. I sympathized with her in denial of her father’s true and dire condition, her worrisome feelings of being a sister and acting like a mother to her younger brother, and her conflicting emotions of wanting to be with a guy who everyone thinks caused the accident that tore her family apart. I thought Charlee was strong, even at her weakest moments and I thought she was the best out of everyone because she believed that Dexter was a good person from the start. 
Now with Dexter, I can say that I loved him even when he was being a complete asshole to Charlee. I felt really bad for him because of the guilt he carried even though he wasn't really to blame. It broke my heart how he thought he didn’t deserve happiness with Charlee. It was just the saddest thing ever. The fact that he hid his diabetes from other people was sad too. Here was this boy, hurting over something he wished he could change while suffering for a condition he can never really control and falling for a girl he thought he knew he didn't deserve. I thought Dexter was going to be a whole different character from what I originally thought, but instead I got someone so much better. He was a kind and thoughtful person. He was funny and sometimes charming and I loved how he helped Charlee and stayed with her even when he felt like he didn’t even deserve to be near her. I really like the way Berto wrote Charlee and Dexter’s story. These two probably surpassed the definition of complicated. The push and pull from both of them was infuriating, frustrating and had me wanting to pull my hair out, but I totally loved them together because they were kind of unusually adorable. Plus, they had some really intense moments where even I wished I was Charlee. However, I do wish I knew why they liked each other in the first place because it would have gave their feelings and relationship more depth, but I still enjoyed their romance.I also liked mystery surrounded the ski lift accident and how Charlee and Dexter were tied together, though I wished that was explored more than it was. Berto did an amazing job with the dual perspectives of Dex and Charz. Both had distinct voices I was able to distinguish despite having a heads up before each chapter. The best part of this book was all the emotions I was feeling. Death is always hard to read and it was no different for this book. Berto knew how to tug at my heartstrings and made me feel as if the grief Charlee was experiencing was my own.
